Small Group Ministry

It is the goal of In Christ Ministries to present an approach to disciple-making that would result in people becoming self-initiating, reproducing, fully-devoted followers of Christ. Whether locally or internationally, our Small Groups Ministry represents the core of our focus.

We challenge you to take a Journey of Faith along with two individuals whom you asked God to identify to you and we challenge you and your two friends to commit to each other these three things:

  1. Be as open, as honest, and as transparent with each other as you can be, otherwise you will never truly know one another.
  2. Commit to engage with Christ daily through His word, in agreement that the word of God is the agent of change and not an optional part of a believer’s daily life.
  3. Extend authority to one another to hold each other accountable to to how we are living life.
A group of 3 is an important part in the effectiveness of this approach to making disciples. One-on-one discipleship involves a hierarchy obstacle, and classroom discipleship lacks the life-on-life power to transform. On the other hand, a smaller unit (of 3) encourages multiplication because it minimizes the hierarchical dimensions and maximizes a peer-mentoring model. This creates a simple, reproducible structure, which almost any growing believer can lead. Leadership in these groups can be rotated early on since the size makes for an informal interchange and the curriculum provides a guide to follow. — Greg Ogden, Executive Pastor of Discipleship, Christ Church of Oak Brook, Oak Brook, IL
